Bocairent,
the color of the history

Located in the interior of the Valencian Community, Bocairent offers the visitor a vast array of attractions. A hilltop town clinging to the summit of a rock outcrop, it has managed to preserve the original Arabic layout of its winding streets.

The Medieval Quarter has been declared a protected site of national historical and artistic interest. But Bocairent precedes the Al-Andalus period, as is clear from the Neolithic human settlements discovered within its municipal boundaries.

Bocairent’s historical heritage is as remarkable as its natural resources. More than half of the Natural Park of the Sierra Mariola belongs to Bocairent. An area of outstanding natural beauty, it is renowned for the wealth and variety of its medical and aromatic plants.

The long distance GR-7 hiking trail runs through here, as do a large number of other sign-posted routes, which can be done on foot or by bicycle.
